Ms. Watkins has completed the tutor training program of the Lab School of Washington®.* The training involved a 700 hour practicum of classroom work with learning disabled children under the supervision of a master teacher of special education and a three hour a week graduate level seminar on techniques for teaching reading and basic math to learning disabled children. Ms. Watkins has taught in the day school summer program and the evening adult program of the Lab School of Washington®. Ms. Watkins has completed the Key Three Routine: Comprehension Strategies; and the Key Vocabulary Routine seminars in Wakefield, MA. She attended the CHADD annual meeting in Arlington, VA in 2007. She has also attended meetings of the Wilson Academy/Intensive in Oxford, MA in the summers of 2008 and 2009. Ms. Watkins attended the annual meeting of The Academy of Orton-Gillinghan Practitioners and Educators in Las Vegas, Nevada in May 2009. Ms. Watkins is a member or subscribing member of the following organizations: · The Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA), · The International Dyslexia Association (IDA), · The International Reading Association (IRA), · The Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE), · Children and Adults With Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), and
